Jeff

I had the same problems on my ADY Sharan. Eventually, It just died. Wouldn't start on petrol or gas.

AA were called out, by the time the very nice man located me deep in Snowdonia, I'd found the fault - coil pack. Amazingly he had one on the van but it looked a right pig to ...

Backfires.....
John

I was thinking that the backfire pressure wave was just too fast for the filter to cope with, but then I remembered that my airbox suffered all it's damage in the lower section, after the filter.

The biggest problem i've had with a backfire, other than the airflow meter being ...

What engine is it? Where is the LPG going into the system?

I ask because I've got a VW Sharan that also has the intake pipe upstream of the filter removed.

My "mixer" was a nozzle fitted into the intake pipe bend a few inches upstream of the throttle. I had a few backfires, blowing ...

Flat spot at 1300 rpm
Just been out to have a look and used the mixture LEDs on the HKL to look at the mixture during the flat spot and it is rich.

If I screw in the vaporiser screw to lean the mixture, the mixture at speed is also lean.

Flat spot at 1300 rpm
Can't find any pipes off, although the air pipe came off the mixer when it went. I think the backfire was a combination of a crappy ht lead (Lumenition 4 months old yet tracking) and my heavy right foot (family emergency at the time).

This happened once before and I had to richen the ...

Flat spot at 1300 rpm
After my backfire last week, I had to richen the mixture on the Zavoli vaporiser to get enough fuel for the engine to run.

It idles fine at 950rpm, the mixture at 3500rpm is fine and above 2000rpm it feels as good as ever, possibly better.

But, at 1300 to 1600rpm, there is a BIG ...

Zavoli tuning
Thanks to crappy Lumenition ht leads, I've had another backfire today.

When I lifted the bonnet, the Air Mass Meter unit was sitting there with no pipes attached!! The airbox has blown apart, despite a pop off valve and now it won't run on gas, only on petrol.

Tweaking the Lambda ...

Backfiring damaging MAF (1990 ) Golf GTI
Paul

I've probably got the same engine as you (ADY) in my 95 Sharan.

Never damaged the MAF, but blown the airbox to bits. Now I've got a backfire valve fitted to the airbox.

It won't solve your problem, but it wall save your pocket!!

I'm sure vastly superior ...

Insuring and LPG car
I called Norwich Union Direct today to buy insurance, I was with them before through a broker, but he didn't pay his bills!

They had to go away for a few minutes to check with the underwriter, but covered me without asking for a certificate and no extra charge.

Spark Plug Recommendations
We used to run 100cc kart engines to 22k rpm, a 27 (Autolite i think) would be used unless it was raining, when a 31 was used, due to the lower rpm used, less chance of fouling.

If it dried up, and you forget to change back, the hole in your piston would make it perfect for a light pull in ...

Lektron CO.RE.GAS System
I'm having a few problems understanding the instructions on the Lektron CO.RE.GAS system.

The instructions say that the engine should be revved to 3000/3500 rpm and then the manual regulator on the stepper motor should be adjusted until the LED's alternate. All ok so far.

Then the ...

Won't run on gas
Just been out for a tweak, richened up the Lektron solenoid mixture until it idled smoothly, then drove on gas with no problems.

Thinking about it, there is a bit more induction roar especially on a loaded throttle, the air box is ok, so it must be the inlet tract somewhere.

Need ...

VW 2.0 ADY engine, single point lpg system.

One wet morning last week, it was a bit rough running on gas, then had a backfire, saved by the valve on the airbox.

this morning, wet & cold, I couldn't keep it running on gas, so went about a mile on petrol before switching over ...
