Been chasing a fault in my system for ages, well a few faults actually, because every time they fixed something it got better, just not completely!

Anyway it was running fine, except it would drop right down in revs on decel, occasionally stalling if going under 60kph.

Car ran like a hairy goat on iridium plugs, started playing up after about 20,000k's. LPG mechanic reckoned they "glaze over" with age and missfire, dont use them.
Replaced them with standard NGK's and it runs like a train again.

.3GilbertD, if you mean disconnect battery earth first, reconnect it last, I agree, for the same reasons. Not fun touching the bodywork with the spanner whilst working on the positive terminal!

Generally prefer Asian cars, much better build quality than the Oz ones, (and they dont rust) but my Gas rig is a falcon, as you say, a big 6 for towing my boat.

Dont muck about, have it looked at.
Could be a very dangerous situation, particularly if you park the vehicle in a confined space.

I read these forums with interest, one of the things that really stands out is that in the UK, virtually all your LPG systems appear to be multipoint injection systems.

These seem to be very rare in Australia, most LPG conversions I have seen are single point systems ...

Gas tune is cheap as chips, Certainly no regrets.

Fine on petrol so wouldn't imagine so, car also pulls like a train on both fuels.

I feel oyur pain - Had to run my rig on petrol for a month or so at the end of the last wet season until I could get the electrical problems fixed (backfiring), I nearly cried at my fuel bill each week. What it normally cost me for a weeks gas wouldn't buy me two days of petrol!

How would you go with the scrutineers?
What safety systems would they make you put in place? What system would they allow you to run?
I'd be getting that in writing from the chief scrutineer before I even looked at what was involved in setting it up.

Had iridium plugs in mine, ran like a dog. Got rid of them and replaced them with el cheapo NGK's and it ran like a train. Mechanic told me that iridium plugs dont like our gas, they glaze over after a while and start miss firing.

I've run mine bone dry once, its supposed to be a 60 litre tank, it took 57 litres. Was never sure if the size stated here (In Australia) is what it will fill to, or what the actual size of the tank is. I
figure it must be what it will fill to after that, otherwise It should not have taken more ...

about 160-180k (100miles) depending on city or country running, but our gas costs the equivalent of about 40p per litre,

Usually soapy water and a paint brush does the job on hoses etc.

Cheers for that. Still enough of a gap to make gas worthwhile though! Diesel tends to be about 8 to 10c a litre dearer here, so almost identical difference. You need to do a lot of k's to make it worthwhile.

So whats unleaded worth over there?
LPG is around 62c a litre here, (roughly about 40p in your money if my exchange rate converter is accurate) with unleaded around $1.50 a litre. Very worthwhile to run gas on that price difference.

Over here, its common for cab drivers to buy ex govt fleet vehicles at auction with around 100 - 120000k on them, then convert to gas and then commonly run them up to 600,000k without issues (Govt has a maximum life of 6 years / 600000k allowed for cabs).

Sounds in the ball park to me as well, also agree the increased mileage is slightly worse in traffic compared to the open road.
