Re: Toyota 1.6 vvt-i

Keep us posted! I've got a 1.6 vvti and will be interested to know if there's any damage without a Flashlube.

Before installing the LPG kit I've checked the valve clearance on every valve so that I could make the comparisons with the future checks that I would do after running on LPG.
I don't ...

Re: Toyota 1.6 vvt-i

What's your mpg like? Does it drop a lot with the lpg?

With unleaded fuel (95) i used to have consumption between 5,8-6,8 litres per 100kilometeres
Now with the LPG the consumption is 13-15% increased and this is normal. If your consumption with LPG isn't at least 10% increased compared to the ...

Re: Toyota 1.6 vvt-i

All the 4 valves of each cylinder work all the time no matter the rpms of the engine. VVT-i just controls the timing of the intake and exhaust valves. The VVT-i system uses a gear in the camshaft that is able to change the phase between the two camshafts depending on the rpms of the engine. Changing ...

Re: Toyota 1.6 vvt-i

I got Zavoli kit installed in my Toyota Corolla 1.4 VVT-i (2003). No flash lube.
I think its the same engine as in 2004.
I've done 4500 kilometers so far without any problem but its too soon say make conclusions.
I am planning to go for valve gap check soon...

Re: should i convert toyota avensis 1.8 vvti 2003?

speedy999 got a point there.
I've considered that and I started driving much more "softly" some years before. Usually i dont exceed 3800-4000rpm even in highways. Thats around 110-130km/h for my Corolla 1.4.
It's a common method to avoid wear for all cars.

Re: should i convert toyota avensis 1.8 vvti 2003?

Well many people deny that flashlube has a benefit action for the valves. Others say that you need it 100%.
I am not either one of them.
I've talked in Greece with people that have used LPG on black listed engines without using flashlube and their engines are still running (over 100.000km) without ...

Re: should i convert toyota avensis 1.8 vvti 2003?

Flashlube kits were popular when car manufacturers were faced with a reduction of lead in petrol. The theory was that the lubricant would prevent the valve seats from wearing down. There are three reasons why in a modern car flashlube maybe a waste of money.
I am not sure that the oil is likely to ...

Re: should i convert toyota avensis 1.8 vvti 2003?

I believe the vvti engine has soft valve seats so you will also need a flash lube system installing.
Steve

is this a fact? Because I've heard in the past that some TOYOTA engines (running on LPG) had problems with their valves and valve seats but I think this is a common problem in most engines ...
