Re: Petrol - How much do you use per annum

I put maybe £20 of petrol in a year.
Mine starts on gas and is only ever switched over to petrol once a month to make sure everything still works.

Re: lpg for audi 1.8t

I've been running my bus for 4 years so far on LPG with no problems and still people tell me i'll kill the engine on LPG. Non of them have even driven an LPG converted vehicle.

Re: lpg for audi 1.8t

Trailertrash, have you any more info on your bus?
I've been looking at replacing the 1.9wbx in my caravelle with a AEB code 1.8t but wondered about running it on lpg. Loads of people on the audi forms seem to say "don't, it'll ruin the engine" or "it's not worth it, you'll loose all the power" etc ...

Re: drop in mpg considerably.

The mpg on my basic open loop carb'd setup drops from my yearly 18.5 average to 13-14 during the time between beginning of November to end of February.
It's always started on gas, and is rarely run on petrol.
I've also noticed its a little rough running below 2k revs during the winter too (which ...

Re: Open loop, Peirburg twin choke, single or dual valve mix

The two valves are open the same amount from fully closed.

I think its still going weak at full throttle under load (when the secondary choke opens) though but i can't seem to do anything about that. :?
Gonna be fitting an AGG golf engine with full sequential injection at some point this year ...

Re: Open loop, Peirburg twin choke, single or dual valve mix

Mines got the twin powervalve setup too but as they are both set the same (or near as) i might as well just have one with a Y after it.

My '88 caravelle has the twin powervalve setup too and its been a nightmare to get correct. Vacuum operated second choke on the pierburg hasn't helped either.

Economy is my main goal with the engine swap, though the extra 40 bhp and 20 lb/ft won't go amiss.

Re: Step by step how to guide for setting up LPG with a lapt

Some engines have obd1 and some have obd2. It depends on the year. Looks like i'll need to retro fit the obd socket to the vehicle as it doesn't have one. I think its only a few wires though.

Re: Step by step how to guide for setting up LPG with a lapt

Its got proper sequential injection controlled by Siemens Simos ECU not bank fired like digifant.
They go pretty well with LPG i've been lead to believe.

Getting a 25% loss on LPG on my current carb'd single point open loop system at the moment so hoping it'll be a bit more efficient.

Re: Step by step how to guide for setting up LPG with a lapt

It'll probably be an AEB based system and probably from Tinley Tech as they've been more than helpful with after sales service (and answering my stupid questions).
Just wondered really before i buy whether i could actually set it up myself. I've never done any sort of setup/tuning using a laptop ...

Step by step how to guide for setting up LPG with a laptop?

Has anyone got a link to a step by step how to guide that shows how to go about setting up a fully sequential LPG system using a laptop?
I've searched online and come up empty.

Would really like to know what work i'm letting myself in for before i go and buy a SGIS kit.

Re: King SIS kit for £210. How?

Gilbertd, it sounds like the King mini kit comes with just the main loom so i'm asssuming a loom for the injectors and pressure and temperature sensors would also need buying.

As my van is already running a basic open loop system its already got the filter/shutoff valve fitted and all the water ...

King SIS kit for £210. How?

Any idea how Tinley Tech sell this King SIS mini-kit for 3 or 4-Cylinder Engines for £210 plus VAT? Does it sound OK?

Its only a front end kit and looks like you'd still need to buy the petrol injector ...

Makes sense about it only advancing to the maximum super unleaded would allow. It was just a thought anyway. Electronic control for stuff is all new to me. Most of the cars i've owned have been 30+ years old.

Ignition timing

I've heard a couple of degrees extra ignition timing is beneficial to LPG powered vehicles due to the slower burning nature of the fuel.

The engine i'm planning on converting to gas has an ECU which advances the ignition timing to the point where i assume it senses pre-detonation (using a knock ...
