Re: EV conversions

Simon your logic and thinking is is spot on in all aspects except that the powers that be are slowly pulling the rug from under our feet and if there rules are not introduced by the front door, they will use the back door. EV or trust the Germans with hydrogen again or hows your long term thoughts o...

Re: EV conversions

The Wheeler Dealer episode in question is now about 5 years old, if not older.
Just a thought but technology has progressed and price has surely reduced, what would be the price today.
In todays Mail was an article on living in the real world with EVs, its worth a read .

Re: EV conversions

Talk about throwing the cat into the pigeons. I can see a logical split in the argument, Simon is converting newer [10 years or less] and Classicswede converting older cars. From a personal view im a petrolhead [both 2 and 4 wheels] but also a classic fan. I can also see that Dai and Simon are both ...

Re: Discussion with DVSA r.e MIL light on at MOT time.

Not saying that I condone or agree in any way but a google search for MIL cheater brings some enlightenment and greedbay sells some ready made items.....fair, right, common sense or down right wrong or maybe they dont work, I have no knowledge of these but have used EGR cheaters/deletes and found th...

Re: Discussion with DVSA r.e MIL light on at MOT time.

Simon as is usual brilliantly and enlighteningly put into words. My trusty old van is Astra mk 4 formerly a 1.6 8v but since fitted with the C20XE redtop engine. A factory NECAM system was originaly fitted and the rear end kit is still in place but upfront is an elderly King ecu, Magic jet vaporiser...

Re: Discussion with DVSA r.e MIL light on at MOT time.

LPG is not the fuel the engine was designed to fuel, mine feels better at lower revs with a small drop of power and torque at higher revs so accept that a differing fuel is a compromise. In my eyes is the ECU not playing ball in accepting a new set of parameters, in not being those its original prog...

Re: Discussion with DVSA r.e MIL light on at MOT time.

Surely the MOT is about safety critical issues and not minor running issues if emmisions are within limits, everything being acceptable. Without any form of criticism of Simon whos knowledge and methods of explaining things are nothing short of brilliant, you put many installers to shame, many right...

Re: lpg injectors refurbished

I percevered with the Koltec system until it became a money pit and with the benefit of hindsight can say I should have had my head examined. Its overly complex and hard to get good information about, in my experience nothing but a PITA. Selling a good working set of injectors recouped half the cost...

Re: Spark plugs?

After much [expensive] testing of iridium, multi electrode and brisk lpg im back to copper NGK standard plugs. Economy, torque and acceleration best on standard, disappointed with brisk as affected low end torque very badly, multi electrode were worse everywhere and iridium the performance does tail...

Re: Replacing Ford transit factory fit front kit

Im not a Ford fan much prefering Vauxhall. Also im a former MOD elec tech and now a Gas Safe htg engineer so the techy side was no problem for me, but your a man who works with your hands so you should find no problems, just use common sense and work at your own speed. Any info you may need can be r...

Re: Replacing Ford transit factory fit front kit

Im guessing its a NECAM system at present as I had one fitted to a 1.6 Astra and they are a complex piece of kit. Spares are expensive and hard to find and good advice even harder. As you have guessed replacement is easier and cheaper and certainly more reliable. With mine all of the old front end s...

totaly agree..............the bosch plugs were an option for my van and what a mistake, poor economy, judder on change over to lpg and lousy throttle response on both petrol and lpg......a return to single electrode ngk cheapos changed at 5k intervals and im back in lpg heaven ...........see no need...
