Cover off the engine? That isn't an engine cover it's the top of the plenum, part of the engine! You wouldn't see the injectors with the top of the plenum off because they're well below the bottom plate of the plenum. Under the 'cover' you see ...

On my e60 it is behind the tank filler flap
