In answer to the original question, it is my personal (and probably ignorant) view that any checks carried out on the LPG system as part of the MOT should be safety related, so:

Tank(s) secure, no excessive rust / damage
Fuel lines and fixings secure, no excessive rust / damage
All other components ...

Somebody worked out that it's the equivalent to an instant stop from 140mph, how true that is I've no idea but nobody has yet tried it to find out.

this seems to have appeared a lot recently. Seems that the bottom line is there is no legal basis requiring you to have a certificate. But, some insurers may require one.

Well Ive only had good expereinces with mine so far. fittings fairly straightforward. At £165 that seems like a very good price, bear in mind though that youll need a usb cable to program it once its set up, a tank, filler, multivalve, and piping.

I bought it from Yorkshire Autogas on Ebay as for the price I could take it to them to have it set up ...

Im sure someone with further expereince will weigh in shortly, but from my research of doing something similar I think the answers will be;

the kit should function in the same way, and slave off the aftermarket ECU without a problem. However will almost certainly require re setting up.

Yorkshire Autogas are doing very good diy deals on ebay at present. You get a uklpg certificate/inspection and advice and set up all in the price.

Have to say i got one of their kits, once id installed it I took it to them and they set it up running perfectly, despite the guy having to redo some ...

Just to update, I tried opening the solenoid as per the advice and magically gas escaped. removed and refitted the pipe and now is all gas tight.

Thanks for the help! next step calibration.... how hard can it be? (booked into the kit supplier for calibration so should be fine.)

Elephant - my current insurer did not charge me any extra as ive already made numerous 'modifications'

I asked them specifically about any paperwork they required re LPGA certification etc and they said they didnt require anything.

I do intend however to have the supplier of my DIY kit to inspect ...

Ah right I see what you mean now the pipe full of liquid would actually produce quite a lot of gas if vented to atmosphere. I will look more specifically at the pipe join, hopefully this will be the case. It does seem obvious now.

Thanks rossko for the advice, however when the electrovalve is opened and the car starts to run on lpg that is when the leak starts. If I power off (i assume that the electrovalve shuts when no power is present) the leak continues for some time and slowly stops after a while. There is what i assume ...
