There's definitely power at the solenoid coil - I've powered it direct from a battery, using the cable I removed with the other tank, and even tried the coil from the other tank.
It's also quite correct that the problem could have been present when I bought the car ...

I've bought a BMW fitted with a BRC Flygas system, which had two 90 litre tanks filling the whole of the boot. All performed flawlessly on the 90 mile drive home.
I decided I don't need 180 litres of tank, but do need a boot, so I've taken the rearmost tank out, and reconnected all the pipework ...

This is a 23 year old car, and there's no reason why it won't still be running like new in another 23, when all the tat in the showrooms today have long since been scrapped.
It will work perfectly well on a single point venturi system, preferably with electronic control, such as the AEB Leonardo ...

Vapouriser, filler, solenoid/filter and electronics should be usable, as will be the tank if it will physically fit, but I'd have some reservations about fitting a single point kit to this engine with a plastic inlet manifold.
You will probably need a new mixer to fit the BMW, unless the Volvo one ...

Bit OT as regards LPG, but I can assure you there is nothing measurable to be gained by fitting any aftermarket intake system (or exhaust either) to a BMW! Some badly designed aftermarket intakes can actually cause significant losses.

Many years ago, when I first started running on LPG, I drilled a very small hole in the top and bottom of the flap housing, opened the flap fully by hand. and dropped a pin in, made from stiff wire.
If petrol use was needed in an emergency, I just pulled the pin out.

Off topic, but cheap smoke alarms don't respond to smoke at all!
I recommend that you bin the cheap £3 B&Q rubbish, and replace them with proper photo electric smoke detectors, preferably mains/capacitor powered and linked together.
They will cost you about £20 each, but I value my life a little ...

I've probably towed a caravan about 15,000 miles on LPG over the last few years.
Absolutely no LPG related problems at all, and I find the increase in fuel consumption to be less on LPG than on petrol.
The biggest problem is that some LPG sellers tend to have their LPG pump in less than caravan ...

Earthing fault! The laptop and leads are providing an extra earth path.

Check the system earth points before condemning anything.

French gas has a higher butane content than most, and will give you a noticeable increase in MPG.
If you're anywhere near the Belgian border while in France, nip over and fill up there.

Cheapest gas in N.Devon is at the Flogas depot on the Yelland Industrial Estate, half way between Bideford and Barnstaple on the coast road. <BR>The BP in Barnstaple (Roundswell) also sells LPG at several pence more, and is unusually reliable for a BP station.
