Car fixed!

£1750 later ! New valve seats fitted by Renault. Also found that coolant leak is because of LPG installation. So Going back to LPG people later this week. Mainly to show them coolant leak and give them opportunity to rectify it.

I'm not going to risk running engine on LPG again ...

surely the lpg system bieng an aftermarket kit means that it is designed for your and any other car?

Propane will "gas off" down to -30 something so doesn't need a large temperature to work. Butane will gas off down to about +2 so wil still gas off in most UK temps. The "mix" of butane and propane is changed by the LPG companies to cover UK temps, more propane in winter ...

In a word, no. I've just searched the RS website and they do quite a few different types of heating wire but all require 230V mains supply. I assume you have a broken seat or maybe you are thinking about using it to heat a vapouriser. You could always try finding a car in your local scrapyard and ...

you can tell the system not to bother checking for faults, but as theres something going on you need to be sure there is no fault. ive turned mine off as i was having trouble with it, the troubles are now over, i check it weekly for any issues and to be honest if the lambda dies then it'd prolly ...

i had a problem with the ht leads breaking down under load on a escort, similar sort of symptoms.

is there a crank position sensor on the cherokee?? i know on range rovers they can cause all manner of missfires if the contacts are out of line/bent or the sensor is dead!

dunno what 'cherrys air filter' is but the cars air filter/cleaner should be in good condition, both for petrol and lpg!!!

didn't some really old cars have a switch for the fuel pump?

forgive me but hasnt this already been done by companies with lots of money like aeb, ag, zavolli etc.

unless ofcourse you intend to put both maps in one ecu and use one set of fuel injectors i can't see the point

plus you have to then figure out how to seperate the sets of injectors as rossko ...

only bit that rings a bell is the aeb, try googling thier website see if you can further identify the components or post some piccys as often things are re badged for different co's

i wonder if the lpg system was the cause of the o/heating and pressure in the coolant??

wish it had been when the liners in my v8 range rover slipped, would have been easier than replacing the block and rebuilding the engine!!!

after a new(second hand) leonardo ecu to replace the burnt out one i have managed to get the steps on the actuator down to 10 on idle and 15 on run.
...
the default actuator position is 110 and the car runs well at this.
That's as good as you'll ever get it :D Certainly as good as it needs to be ...

any leaks in the air intake system will also change the characteristics of the mixture. this was happening on my 4.0 range rover. the mixer ring wasnt connected to the air intake very well and leaked air in.

this made the mixture unpredictable and kept backfiring. i eventually permanently sealed ...

if you remove the stepper and then 'bodge' the connections you will prolly find it feels under powered as though not enough fuel is getting in there.

mine turned out to be the ecu for the gas has burned out causing the stepper to close but not open. obviously you can observe this when its off!

firstly let me welcome you to this wonderful lpg forum, its helped me quite alot over the last year or so in learning about my system!!

i drive a 4.0 range rover (1996) so i can see your need to cram as much fuel in there as possible as it doesnt last long!

from a full tank of lpg, around 94 ...
