Been a few years…

… but my lpg Range Rover is still going strong. I’m looking to upgrade to a newer model though but they are all Direct Injection. My installer says LPG isn’t possible on any JLR direct injection model as far as he is aware. Hoping someone here might be able to confirm this is the case.

If so, what ...

Re: Cylinder 8 Error - Strange problem

Hi both, yes its a stag 300 in a L322 Range rover. I also replaced all the plugs about a year ago so its not those causing it. All wiring and pipe routing has been checked too. No damaged wires or kinked pipes unfortunately.

Would there be any way to double check the wiring somehow by swapping the ...

Cylinder 8 Error - Strange problem

Been having this issue intermittently for the last 4 years and its now happened again and finally driving me crazy. Every few months I get a misfire and the lpg reverts back to petrol. Always Cylinder 8 error. Usually I turn the car off and back on and it runs fine again. Occasionally though this ...

Re: I admit defeat! Can anyone help?

Thanks for the reply Simon. 99.9% sure its not the wiring mixed up as the car was running on lpg fine for the first year I had the car. Started erroring and switching back to petrol under really heavy load and generating the same error before I started swapping injectors etc. The lpg wiring to the ...

I admit defeat! Can anyone help?

I've been having issues with my stag 3000 on my l322 range rover for about a year now and absolutely nothing I have tried has solved the problem and if anything the issues has got worse. The car now just misfires, errors to the point it reverts to petrol or even stalls when switching to lpg.

The ...

Re: Swapping injectors

Many thanks for the info. I've just swapped injectors 7&8 over to see if the error follows but somehow the error still stays as "gas injector error 8" even after clearing all errors and starting the car again. I'm guessing the injector isn't a fault then but no idea what else it could be. I've ...

Re: Swapping injectors

Thanks for the reply and apologies for the delay in replying. I subscribed to the thread but didn't receive an email notification.

I've checked and its definitely the gas injector causing the error. The code is gas injector error 8 on the stag software. Can I just swap the injector by leaving them ...

Swapping injectors

My l322 now refuses to run on lpg and my software is saying injector 8 error. I'm hoping its possible to swap the injectors around, say from cyl 8 to 1, to see if the error swaps so that I can confirm it is indeed the injector at fault rather than anything else. Does anyone know if this is an easy ...

Calibration problems and Injector 8 errors. Please help!

Having problems with my Stag 300 plus system on a 4.4l L322 range rover. System worked great for over a year then I had to replace my reducer temp sensor. When doing so I accidentally adjusted the pressure setting on the top of the reducer. After replacing the temp sensor and setting the pressure to ...

Re: Usb to serial rs232 converter for interface cable

Thanks for the replies. Any idea if the Stag 300 plus is one that can't be used?

Kbs, I'm running windows 7.

Thanks

Usb to serial rs232 converter for interface cable

Purchased an rs232 interface cable for my stag 300 plus system only to realise I no longer have a serial port on my laptop (doh!!!). Luckily I have a rs232 to usb converter cable. Tried it but I can't for the life of me get it to connect to my stag 300. Unsure if this is the cable or something I'm ...

Re: Arrghh!! Another new lpg problem.

Thanks mate. Will order one tonight.

Car now will switch to lpg fine when stopped. Can rev it hard in both park and neutral and its fine. As soon as I put it in Drive though, the system beeps with the fault noise, shudders slightly and switches back to petrol. Can't understand why it would do this ...

Re: Arrghh!! Another new lpg problem.

Spent another couple of hours on her tonight to no avail. Def not the temp sensor as the fault still appears when its disconnected. Checked all the hoses. Disconnected the battery, unplugged the lpg ecu (which is an AC Stag 300-8 plus btw). Tried again and it seemed to be ok. Switched over to lpg ...

Re: Arrghh!! Another new lpg problem.

Coolant level seems fine. Given the reducer a good shake to hopefully free any air locks but all seems ok.

The fault beep didn't happen when the temp sensor failed previously. The unit stayed quiet the whole time and the light blinked slowly as when the system is warming up. Now its flashinh ...

Re: Arrghh!! Another new lpg problem.

Thanks Simon. My system is a autogaz AC with a Magic 3 reducer and Magic injectors. My car is an L322 range rover. My temp sensor went bad after it took an absolute age for it to switch over to lpg. When playing about to diagnose if it was a loose connection, the wire broke to it so I replaced with ...

Arrghh!! Another new lpg problem.

Purchased a new temp sensor a couple of weeks ago and my lpg has been running fine ever since :) Seems to take a little while longer to switch over to gas but I put this down to a longer sensor taking a minute or so longer to heat up, or more likely not enough coolant in the coolant/water ratio ...

Re: Replacing Magic 3 on Range Rover? Like for like?

Thanks bud. Good advice. Isn't the pressure controlled by the allen screw fitting on the very top of the reducer? If not do you know what this is? It is attached inside to the spring so will change how high the rubber seal can go. Thanks again.

Replacing Magic 3 on Range Rover? Like for like?

Need to put in a new reducer on my 2003 L322 after the current Magic 3 has had it. The temp sensor had a loose connection which I proceeded to break completely while attempting to fix it. Then I lost a top bolt from it somewhere in the engine bay which I cannot source anywhere despite my efforts ...
