Autogas Fill up Problem

If you are not sure if you are using the filler nozzle correctly ask one of the garage staff to show you.....

Fellow noob here and have to say I found the De Visser gun so much easier to use.

Ok as long as you dont let go of the lever and if falls and chips the paint...

Never had any problem like that myself, in fact I'd say no different to the GasGuard in that respect.

Hold hose with one hand and offer up connector, "feel round" for the pins engaging in the slots, turn lever and pull back to lock. On releasing I flick the lever off so my hand isn't in the line of fire for the blowback as the seal releases.

A matter of preference I guess.

Garage staff in my experience are useless, and no nothing about filling up with LPG.

I had similar experiences when I first used the twist-grip and trigger kind - an embarrassing bang of gas being ejected, but no connection.

1) Turn the locking ring fully anticlockwise
2) Push the connector fully in once you have located it on its prongs - it's like plugging in a light bulb
3) Turn the collar clockwise - about 1/8 turn
4) Pull the trigger fully, and hold it there while you lift the catch. This is the counter-intuitive bit. The catch works in the opposite way to as you might imagine, and doesn't really lock into position, just acts as a rather feeble wedge. It's the equivalent of trying to wedge a door adjar by putting a coin on edge in the gap.
5) Go to the pump and lean on the button until it starts filling, keep it there until it turns off automatically.

The guides printed on all the pumps I have seen are useless, mostly a haphazard mixture of the two kinds.

The lever kind is much easier - lever forward and anticlockwise, plug and turn the nozzle, turn the lever clockwise, pull back the lever to lock.

I might be getting the different types mixed up here..... I have no problems with the one with handle/trigger like petrol dispenser...... its the other one with big lever that I dont often come across that I find a bit annoying....

Im glad im not the only one who had problems the first time the filled up!

I didnt realise you had to hold the green button n only got 20p's worth of gas in......and then was stood there for a while pressing the green button again wondering why nothing was happening!

Did my first fillup today it was a De Visser type at my local Morrison's, 72.9p per Ltr, no problems except for the locals looking what the 'strange man with the big hose' was doing, hope you have got your problems sorted out now.
Have you not got a gauge with 4 lights on it?

When screwing the nozzle on, did you turn the whole nozzle/handle clockwise? or just the bit on the end (i.e. keeping handle pointing down)? My first couple of attempts I had had hassle from trying to turn the whole nozzle, handle and all. You just turn the end bit of the nozzle.

Then pull trigger, clip it in place with little lever inside it.

Hold green button on the filler for a while, sometimes it can take a a good 5-10 seconds before it starts.

Make sure it is the right button on the filler, caught someone the other week at the garage holding in the emergency stop button, wondering why not gas was going in...
