Post subject:  Importing a uk converted car to Australia.

Ok , so I have had a customer contact me. He wants a conversion. And wants to then take it to Australia.
Any of you kind converters over there fill me in on the legalities ?
What type of filler point you use ?
Does it have to be re inspected for auzzie use ?

I think we've had this before ... I recall something about having to change a tank as they like em painted white.

Oz/NZ have own approval scheme, akin to E67. I do think it will need inspection and get 'stamped', but exact rules vary by state. E67 parts should be accepted as equivalent to theor Oz counterparts. They do fit European parts by the shipload.
But - be wary that unless it was a type approved "factory" conversion, the conversion overall will not be regarded as E67 (regardless of who has signed off what) hence the reinspection and getting subject to local foibles like tank colour.

Filler is Acme thread, north european style.

I don't think tanks have to be white, have seen polished stainless ones before, depending on what state they are going to there used to be significant rebates available on LPG conversions.
It will 100% have to be inspected and (re)certified before they can register it no matter which state they go to.
If they haven't been in Aus lately they should check the price of gas now - it had gone through the roof last time I checked, it was still cheaper to run on but only just, the days of it being dead dead cheap are long gone.
