i bought a car for spares that had a romano ecu on it and i noticed it looked the same as my emer ecu so figured id plug it into my car and give it a go now car starts and runs but it wont connect to my laptop, i downloaded the romano software but it wont connect, till my emer cable be different to a romano one

They are both the same ECU (AEB) but loaded with different, label specific, firmware. So you'll need the software that matches the label to talk to them. The cable should be the same, the only difference being the earlier ones had an 8 pin Molex connector with only 4 pins used and the later ones had a 4 pin Supaseal connector. I suspect you've got the wrong version of the Romano software.

ok the unit is dated 2013 on the back, only romano software i can find online is the latest rism 6.1, when can i get the older versions from

Reckon the 6.1 Romano software should work on a 2013 Romano ECU.

Did the ECU work on the old car?

never tried pluggin it in on the old car, i will put it back on and try my laptop and cable with it
