Good morning folks just a quick few lines to pick your brains ,
I have a Freelander LPG with the tank located up under the rear floor between the rear axle and the tow bar this means that no space is lost inside the load area .
Has anybody ever installed a similar set up into a long wheel base Vitara?
I know it would mean removing the rear silencer and a small amount of "fabrication" to get things to fit but I would like to know its achievable before I jump and buy a new car.
Any photo's of such a installation will be a good start.

It's a kind of 'split tank' set up. You can either have a 33 litre / 70 litre LPG tank.
Or a 32 litre / 70 litre LPG on the xl7. Both go under the car though. Xl7 is only up to 2005. Grand vitara from 1998 on. You don't have to remove the silencer or anything. It's a pretty straightforward fit.

Hello toby thanks for the reply,
I may well be down top see you shortly if the Vitara comes at the right price
I have had a bit of a measure underneath both the Freelander and the Vitara and I think the Vitara has more room available
Here's hoping.

So here we are again been a while since the OP in May but now all complete .
After remaking the Exhaust to allow room for the tank my local body shop as seen on some programs of Car SOS( not Fuzz's gaff) removed the small under floor cubby and welded a new flat steel sheet into the boot floor
this allowed Tubbs to fit a sixty litre cylinder tank across the rear of the car(snug fit between the tow bar ,exhaust and rear diff/axel).
leaving the interior boot space untouched ,still room for the dog crate walking sticks, boots etc

from the rear it sits no lower than the Original Exhaust silencer
