I have loads of bit here that can go. As I am not doing as much lpg work no sense hanging onto it all forever.

wel ,things seems to have got off to a much faster start than i anticipated !!.

Dai has come forth with a set of matrix injectors and a prins reducer needing a rebuild , and i realise i could take off the prins reducer on the astra , put on that 200 bhp one i have shown in the spares ,then i would have two prins ones ,which with 8mm solenoids will go 335 bhp .

my super duper megasquirt chap is investigating pk and hold and pwm and so on with a occiloscope to build a ecu for it all, i have some point to see whether one of my tanks will fit in the back of the car ...blimey !! whirlwind .

I believe it's only rated to just over 100bhp Rob..

One point about the Prins reducers is that the range of pressure adjustment starts at reasonably high pressure and goes to very high pressure - if you're planning running a system at usual pressure of say 1.2bar, I'm not sure if pressure range goes down that far. Another point is they don't all feature vacuum reference, on most Prins installs the reducer isn't connected to vacuum.

oh pox ! so much for that plan of using the romano on the astra then .


re the prins reducer , yes i had to fit a vac/boost pipe from the manifold to a fitting i tapped into the prins case .it works well down adjusted to below a bar .

Spud in the reducer is sometimes done on Prins installs on turbo'd stuff. I didn't know the VSI would turn down as low as 1 bar.. Hope it will flow as much mass of gas at this pressure as at it's usual pressure, many reducers will flow a lot more gas at high pressure settings than at low pressure settings, but with 2 of them (I think you mentioned?) the total flow will still be expected to be more than enough, as long as nothing in the earlier mentioned pressure stability point prevents that. Reckon all will be good though!

ok doke , measured the matrix injectors at 4.9 ohms , more than the one's on the astra , i thought these were 2 ohms but obviously not , this may make it a little easier to drive them.

also , on the car at the moment i have 2 10mm copper fuel tubes running from the tank to engine and back ,so , do i have to use black plastic coated pipe ? or can i use the 10mm already installed with compression 8 to 10mm fittings both ends ?

next , is it required to use 3 solenoids per line ? if i have a solenoid on the tank , and one on the vapouriser do i need an intermediary ? i know when i fitted all my lpg stuff in the past i have used 3 , but thought i would ask in case there is any new thinking on this and i don't need to buy 6 8mm solenoids for the two lines i hope to run from the 4 hole tank .

I would be happy to use the ten mm pipe. It is supposed to be coated but a lot of factory fits are not.

You only need a solenoid on each tank and each reducer, no need for a third one

ok dokey .

well i have a tank that may well fit ,

a 70 litre one 4 hole .

and here's the fat bum it needs to go in ...

that tank is actually about the width of the glass , so should fit if it gets between the glass and the floor of the boot before sinking into the hole .

i now have my injectors ,and should have enough reducers to do the job soon .

bit confused by this ..

what is the meaning of 5mm ? i need a 8mm one ,but it says high flow .hmmm .research continues .

my ecu man is getting some stuff out to me so we can make tests on the injectors and hopefully we can get a ecu done .


filler wise , i am thinking of trying to use a small one like Chris on the merc , i REALLY don't want to cut a hole in the body , and i thought of putting it in the door jam , but that would fill the car with gas upon disconnection ,yuk .

maybe a mini mk1 number plate holder ,that hinges upwards ,then i could put a normal filler behind the plate .if the tank cleared it inside . oh and i need a lid for my tank gas box .

Good luck fitting the tank Rob, TT will sell you a lid for the valve housing.

5mm will be the internal diameter of the valve, 8mm pipe may be around 5mm or 6mm internal diameter, 6mm pipe may be around 4mm internal diameter. Can see room for confusion when same vendor lists 8mm 4 hole outlets...

ahh isee , thank you simon , , so thier 5mm is a high flow 8mm od solenoid ..

yup crawling around under that rear window is not fun .

I may have the same problem in a couple of weeks mate, will be converting a Maserati GT, also has wider body than tailgate.. and the battery lives in the boot.
Just converted a Golf R32, rear diff under tank so had to fit zero degree tank.
