Make sure your coolant level is up to the maximum mark.

Yeah done this, but I am wondering if it may be the temp sensor at fault?

Light on overnight, or just for a minute or two?

I think it would be worth identifying the type of gas system fitted, it may not be a "factory" job. See 'pjpj' gallery here

I made a mistake, the light is not on it was a reflection  Anyway it is an EGI type, and I have tested the temp sensor this seemed to be ok, I put power to the solenoid on the gas tank and both solenoids activated front and back but it did not go on to gas. I had another temp sensor from another car and wired it to my car and put it in boiling water it was reading around 400 on my multimeter I started the car but it still would not change over. I wiggled everything I could see and it still would not change. What critera does it need to run? the light is flashing constantly like as if it is waiting for something to let it work. I will see if it changes in the morning when it is cold now after my tinkering, or if I have now lost this too :( Thanks to all for your replies to a newbie. I have a 3.0 24v Carlton on the suck through type and I know it inside out. Wish the Astra was as easy. Cheers Rae.

Sorry after looking at the guide it seems the EGI nd The Gsi are very alike. I will identify what I have in the morning.

Is the car not running on LPG at all now?

The EGI has passive injectors and the throughput of gas is controlled by the stepper motor on the distributor,

The GSI has electronic injectors and a simple 1-4 way splitter.

Once you have confirmed the LPG model, I will forward you an appropriate diagnostic sheet.

If the system is not switching over to gas at all, it could be the 58x module or, seeing as you have tested the temperature sensor, the wiring from the temperature sensor.

The 58x module costs apx. £80.00 +VAT from Vauxhall with about a weeks waiting time.

Thanks for that :) gives me hope :) It is the Gsi I have, as I have electronic injectors. At the moment it seems to have a mind of it's own and it will switch over and go great and then after a minute it will loose all power but the gas light is still on for about five seconds I keep my foot down then it switches over to petrol again and it pulls away again :?: Cheers Rae.

It sounds like you have a restriction in the gas supply.

A blocked filter or solenoid valve not opening fully.

Spares

Oh well it refuses to run on gas at all now, and the solenoids are not switching, so I assume it cannot be a blockage as the pressure cannot be known until the solenoid opens and supplies the reducer with gas.

Have you read the fault log on the LPG ECU?

If that is only telling you code 12, it may well be the 58x module.

Part No. 93182211. It's called the Amplifier Case Signal by Vauxhall. Possibly CCF002. (I believe)

P.S. There is no pressure sensor.

I'm guessing you still have some gas left in the tank?

Seeing as it will not run on gas at all since you have played around with the temperature sensor, have you checked the connector and wiring for corrosion and damage?

Yes they seem ok, and after I checked the temp sensor it did switch over a couple of times also the light does not change from the 0.5 on 0.5 off now. It just keeps flashing at the same speed. Is there anyway I can test the CAS before going to the expense of buying a new one? Cheers Rae.

Only by plugging it into a working system I think.

So if the 58x is broken it will not attempt to switch to gas? (Sorry for being a pain).

They can fail in different ways.

Most times it will not switch to gas at all. It won't even attempt.

Most times no fault code is stored.

Sometimes it is intermittent.

Sometimes it can effect petrol running as well. (Just unplug it and you can run on petrol)

Sometimes a fault code is stored.
