In a word, yes. The back of the pins can wear so the nozzle is not held firmly enough to seal properly. The filler has a non-return valve in it as does the tank inlet so what is escaping is the gas in the hose between the two. See http://tinleytech.co.uk/product-categor ... search=yes for a replacement.

Thanks for replying yet again Gilbert , I guess replacing will mean cracking the nut and letting the pipe empty them ?

I have single hole tanks with tomasetto valves and as I did not realize there is a none return at that end thought I could end up emptying half a tank on the forecourt !

I appreciate the link.

Yup, only bear in mind that 1 litre of liquid becomes 270 litres of vapour so even a short run of pipe can vent off for quite a while. Make sure you get the correct filler, you've got a choice of standard 8mm olive and nut fittings used if the pipe is rigid copper or plastic or JIC fittings if the pipe is a flexible hose.

Only the other day I was beside a guy at the Shell station at Barnsdale Bar who was filling a motorhome with LPG and had to hold the gun on his filling point to prevent it leaking. I was just giving a vehicle I'd just converted it's first taste of LPG.
