Been a member of the forum since 2010...

Been a professional installer for many years and am considered an expert on a wide range of LPG systems...

Must be valued by the forum - I give very detailed and informed advice and answer many questions....

Never been offensive on the site....

I cannot send PM's on the forum
I cannot post anything without someone approving it first

I'm told the above cannot be fixed because there is only one person in the world who could fix it and he isn't around anymore? I'm told the only way around it is for me to start a new profile? I'm not willing to do that because, admittedly, one of the main reasons I use the forum is to spread the word on the existence of my company LPGC. To anyone who has issues with the last sentence I ask - Why do you think any pro installers come on the forum?

Surely the above can be fixed? Then I might come on more often and give more advice? At the moment I can post a reply but it won't appear right-away, and by the time it has appeared it can seem completely out of context and seem a daft reply.. Of putting to say the least!

u need to wait for Damo, believe it or not there are far more important matters in life than this forum and your business, Damien has stuff to sort out, i could play devils advocate and say its your own fault, you registered then disappeared making very little or no posts

Thanks for whatever you've done tonight John because at the moment it seems I can post immediately!

We have the same point of view on other things being more important than the forum - that's why I didn't spend several hours a night on the forum straight after becoming a member and why I only come online in 'fits and starts' now.

I've often found websites that have content I'm interested or involved in, decided to become a member immediately, signed up but left further inter-action until later.. That's a similar story to events when I joined this site. Since becoming a member of this forum in 2010 I have posted many times, answered questions, raised points myself, I believe used the site for it's intended purpose, I don't post abuse etc. I appreciate the problem is a technical one and not related to any admin's concerns about me - But I think the technical problem should be considered a site problem and not something I caused by my posting habits! A none offensive set of posts over time should be the way to get approved not create a problem for getting approved.

I was told over a year ago (think it was that long ago anyway) that a certain admin person would need to be involved in sorting this out. If that's Damo and he's doing something more important or interesting that's perfectly understandable and no problem at all, been in this position 3 years already so no rush! Surprising that no-one else can sort it out though..

I appreciate your reply and time John, thanks, I think!

If it is any consolation Simon, normally I read posts that are requiring approval - with yours I just hit the "go" button.

Is there any reason why Damien can't give more power to other admins if he isn't around much himself.

Actually would it not be possible for some of us to pool together and move the forum off old phpBB software onto a something more upto date and rehost the site somewhere where you could actually upload photos to the site directly instead of linking to some picture hosting sites.

At the moment attaching pictures is cumbersome and the pictures can disappear at anytime.

With a technical forum such as this LPG forum pictures form a very important of the experience, its great to able to see top notch example installs by the real pros or ask someone who is having trouble to post some pics so we can get a better understanding of what is going on.

LPGForum is a great community but I think we could with better forum software and better hosting. I think a lot of people just avoid attaching pictures as its a little long winded.

I'm willing to offer my IT expertise if the forum leaders here wish to follow my suggestion above and move.

What do you think members and forum leaders ?

there is nothing wrong with the phpBB forum, its just the way its setup which can be easily rectified via the admin cpanel, the site is fine where it is, the man has things he has to sort out in his personal life give him a break.

You seem to have taken that the wrong way. I wasn't attacking anyone, as a member of this forum I was just offering constructive feedback.

Hi,

It's been a while.

I am in the process of moving house again, 5th time in 16 months but hope to be more settled in the next place. Taking note of the comments and will do something about the issues shortly.

Damian

If you do get a chance could you add the forum newbies to the installers section,

Rossko
Tubbs
LPGC
And Andy Evans
The installers section has become lonely as there are non of the installers left there now, just me on my own. It would be good to share in depth info there.

Hi Damian,

non of them can read that section as yet, I had a feeling when you added me all those years ago you had to try twice or do something extra to make it work.

Could you look at it again

Thanks
Dai

Is it Damien who has the ability to add me as a full member - so I wouldn't need posts approving in future?

Just a reminder that I still cannot post immediately, cannot send PM's, don't seem to be able to have my website and further info listed automatically at the bottom of each post....

Would appreciate it sorting, please?

Damian, without wishing to be rude, since you don't have the time to keep on top of things with the forum is there some way you could grant the necessary admin powers to another moderator, even if this involves giving them your password etc?

Did the installers section get sorted? Never been to or seen that section...

Any way of archiving old pics somehow - so the board quota has space for new pics without linking to other specialist pics sites?
